During your next Virginia vacation, discover a new way to explore the Allegheny Mountains – while horseback riding at The Homestead resort & spa! The tradition of horseback riding at this premier Mid-Atlantic resort goes all the way back to colonial Virginia, and our on-site Equestrian Center offers everything from leisurely guided rides to cozy carriage tours!
You’ll find nearly 50 horses at our Equestrian Center, with both English and Western saddles available, so riders of all levels and styles are sure to find the right horse for an Allegheny adventure. Saddle up and follow a mounted guide along picturesque bridle paths or through the beautiful mountain trails as you check out the foliage and scenic views – and maybe even spot some local wildlife! All riders 4’6” and taller are welcome – and smaller children can get in on the fun with a 10- to 15-minute ride hand-led by one of our guides!
The Homestead also offers horse-drawn carriage rides that provide a perfect way for you and your family – or for you and that special someone – to enjoy the spectacular surroundings while our guide takes you along a private wooded trail. Our antique buckboard carriages date back to the early 1900s, and you may feel yourself transported back to those days as you glide through the untouched Virginia countryside.
Whether you’re planning a family vacation or a romantic getaway, be sure to set aside some time to go horseback riding at The Homestead. Call our Equestrian Center for more information or to book your guided private trail ride or group trail ride at The Homestead today!
