Autumn in Bath County, Virginia means spectacular fall foliage, crisp weather, and of course, the Harvest Moon Festival! Stay at The Homestead Resort & Spa on Saturday, September 22, 2012 and experience a full day of fantastic Hot Springs events, family activities, and even a free concert – all designed to help you celebrate the bounty of autumn.
The fun begins at 8 a.m. with the second annual Harvest Moon Festival Bike Rides. Choose from three different options – the challenging 96-mile Century, the moderate 61-mile Metric, or the leisurely 28-mile Fun ride – then hop on your bike and explore some of the most scenic cycling trails in Bath County!
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head for Downtown Hot Springs to check out the Bath County Farmer’s Market. Browse the market stalls and grab a bite while you enjoy live entertainment, or compete in the Harvest Moon Festival photography and hay bale decorating contests. More than 30 local vendors and artisans are expected to turn out, offering everything from delicious seasonal produce and snacks to arts and crafts.
You’ll also find a variety of other Harvest Moon activities throughout the area. Support Bath Animal Welfare with the silent auction at the Hot Springs Fire Department, or stop by the Hidden Valley Bed and Breakfast for a farm tour and family-friendly activities. You can even head to Millboro for the annual tractor parade!
The Harvest Moon Festival ends with a benefit dinner to support Relay for Life and a free concert featuring Linda Lay at the Garth Newel Music Center. Enjoy a delicious meal right in the concert hall, followed by the sounds of bluegrass and acoustic country from the talented Linda Lay. After the show, head back to The Homestead for a nightcap – and raise your glass to the harvest moon!
